In Portugal, influenced by the Mediterranean climate, olive trees are staple elements of the landscape. The quality of the soil and the different climate conditions determine the species that can thrive and thus the quality and diversity of the produced olive oil.

Olive oil is considered a healthy food component. There are two explanations for this: olive oil has a high content of unsaturated fatty acids and anti-oxidants. Anti-oxidants protect the body’s cells against damage and aging. This is why a low-fat diet can still benefit from olive oil.

Portuguese olive oil is thicker and more fruity compared to other olive oils. It has a greenish yellow hue and can vary from bitter to spicy or sweet and soft to intense in flavour. Portuguese Olive Oils is amongst the World’s Best Olive Oils !

Over the last decade, Portugal has quadrupled its production of olive oil and tripled its volume of exports.

Flavor and aroma of the oil deteriorate within 2 years. The fresher you use the product, the better the quality is. So please do look at the "best before" date on the bottle in the store.

The best place to store your olive oil is in a dark glass bottle or in a stainless steel, ceramic or tin container. If using a clear glass bottle, this should be kept in a dark spot. Keep it away from air, light and heat. Proper storage will keep the quality of your oil for up to 2 years. Once a bottle is opened you should use it within 2 to 3 months
