Rosé

Make no mistake: rosé wine is not made by mixing red and white wine. That is even strictly forbidden. This method is only allowed in Europe in the Champagne region to make rosé champagne. Rosé is usually made from blue grapes. The wine gets its light red color because the skins of the grapes only come into contact with the juice for a very short time

Portuguese Rosé wine, which is also called rosado, is often darker in color, and more spicy and powerful than the French and Spanish varieties.

The wine from cooler regions such as the Douro valley is structured, fruity and has a mineral undertone. In the more southerly regions rosé wine is produced that has the touch of Mediterranean herbs and ripe forest fruits.

Portuguese rosés are the perfect companions for mildly seasoned dishes, salads, vegetable specialties and barbecues

Serving: both white and rosé wine should be served freshly chilled: between 8 and 11 °C. Do not pour too much wine into the glass on hot days, it will not heat up too quickly and your guests can enjoy a bottle of delicious Portuguese wine for longer
