Antonio Madeira A Liberdade 2022 Red
A great terroir wine which showcases the richness of the Dão region at the foot of the Serra da Estrela. Citrusy nose, very precise bergamot, fruit, electric, powerful and saline mouthfeel, fine tannins that beg for another glass and food. A tasty, long and intense finish. Only 2.000 bottles produced.
This wine is vinified without added sulphites, which means that the wild yeasts were free (in Portuguese "Liberdade" means Liberty)
Food pairing
this wine will goes wonderfully well with fish, poultry and is an excellent ally of cheese
Grapes: 80% Touriga Nacional & 20% field blend.
80% of the grapes used in this wine come from a 20-year-old Touriga Nacional vineyard, while the remaining 20% come from a 50-year-old vineyard in a field blend. Its winemaking and aging process, without the addition of sulfites or oenological products, are notable, focusing on natural methods that express the soil and the year's climatic conditions. Alcoholic fermentation takes place with native yeasts in a wine press, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine then ages for 9 months in stainless steel tanks. It is bottled in June following the harvest without fining or filtration, thus preserving the wine's salinity, flavor characteristics, and ability to evolve in the bottle to the maximum extent possible.
2022 was an extremely dry year, the driest ever according to scientific data, as a result of climate change
