Casa Ferreirinha Quinta da Leda 2018 Tinto
€ 47.50
Quinta da Leda is a red wine of great complexity and elegance, a fine example of the richness and modern style of the great Douro wines of today. A top quality wine!

This Quinta da Leda has a deep ruby red color. Concentrated and rich in aromas, it enchants with its floral notes of violet, balsamic, resin, cedar wood and tobacco box. Red fruit and white pepper on the palate, excellent body, well integrated acidity, good quality tannins followed by a long, elegant and harmonious finish.
Food pairing
The ideal companion for rich meat dishes and game such as venison, also delicious with strong cheeses
Grapes: 41% Touriga Franca, 34% Touriga Nacional, 13% Tinto Cão, 12% Tinta Roriz
Following the harvest the grapes are macerated and fermented in stainless steel tanks with each variety vinified separately. The wine is then matured in 50% new and 50% used oak barrels for 18 months before the final composition of the blend is decided and the wine is bottled
2018 had a cold and dry winter, but an extremely rainy spring, which allowed the replenishment of water reserves in the soil. "Despite the hot and dry summer, the humidity in the soil allowed for a long and balanced maturation, which allowed the production of a red wine of excellent quality and full of character," Luís Sottomayor.

This wine comes from one of the top Douro estates, a main source for the legendary Barca Velha. This latest release from the quinta is impressively rich, structured and ageworthy. Dark-black fruits and powerful tannins presage plenty more aging. Drink the wine from 2024. Roger Voss
