Casa Ferreirinha Barca Velha 2015 Tinto
€ 899.00
The most appreciated wine from Portugal. A wonderful story without concessions, based on experience and innovation, but above all a constant search for maximum quality. A wine with a deep ruby red color and an intensely complex aroma of fresh red fruits and spices such as pepper and cloves. Also reveals aromas of balsam and cedarwood, as well as resin and tobacco. A wine with a large volume, lively acidity and intense tannins. In the extraordinarily long finish notes of red fruits, pepper, cloves and ginger.
Barca Velha is valued by the great wine connoisseurs as the icon of the Douro wines and Portugal.
Only produced in years of exceptional harvest. The day you open a bottle of Barca Velha is a day of celebration. A wine to enjoy on special occasions.

This cuvée is vinified at Quinta da Leda by Luis Sottomayor. The grapes used are mainly from the Quinta de Leda vineyard, supplemented by vineyards in different areas of the Douro Superior. After de-stemming, the grapes are gently pressed and placed in stainless steel tanks to carry out the alcoholic fermentation. Maceration is carried out under temperature control over a fairly long period of time to develop the aromas, structure and richness of color of the wines.
Douro Barca-Velha 2011 Casa Ferreirinha matured for 18 months in French oak barrels. The final blend is carried out after an extremely rigorous selection of the best wines, as well as tastings and analyzes that were regularly carried out on the assemblies and the barrels. The wine was filtered before bottling.
The winter was cold and very rainy, which contributed to the replacement of the water reserves in the soil. Between late spring and early autumn, the climate was dry, with two main exceptions, on August 21 and September 1, which were between 35 and 40 mm across the region. The mild summer and the availability of water in the soil allowed the grapes to ripen very quickly in a balanced manner.
