This is a brooding Portuguese red, with a savoury nose of ripe red and blue fruits, forest floor and stone. On the palate, you can discover a layered combination of red and blue fruits, supplemented by notes of cracked white and black peppercorns and green herbs. The fruits were processed traditionally - with foot-treading in stone troughs, before 18 months of ageing in French oak. Consider pairing this grippy, delicious wine with smoked cheese or wild game. It’s an excellent choice for those looking to explore overlooked red grapes.

Fermented with indigenous yeasts using 100% whole clusters and vinified in square concrete tanks. Nothing was added to the wine except sulfur. The total maceration lasted 10 days, followed by 18 months of aging in 500L French oak barrels and 2500L Eastern European oak casks.

A pure expression of terroir, crafted from a single, sustainably farmed vineyard in Alijó, Douro. Planted over 70 years ago in an unlikely site for red wine, the vines thrive in clay loam soil with a predominance of blue slate at 580 meters elevation. Vinified with indigenous yeasts, Luis Seabra ensures that the soil remains the defining element of the wine’s character. This vineyard showcases the unique balance of altitude, soil, and tradition.

After a successful decade as winemaker at Niepoort, Luis Seabra decided to break out on his own, leaving his name on the wines of Douro. Indie Xisto blends Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Barroca, Rufete, Touriga Brasileira, Donzelinho Tinto, Malvasia Preta and Touriga Femea, from a sustainably farmed, blue schist soiled single vineyard in Alijó, planted since 1950 and at 580m elevation. This was native fermented, whole cluster in lagares with 10 days of maceration before resting 18 months in 500ml French oak barrels and saw very low sulphur additions throughout. Grippy and schistous, with a firm, fine grip holding perfumed cassis, wild blueberry, thorns, and rockrose. Tannins are textural and structural, while acidity is naturally lofted, carrying this elegantly powerful red through a lingering finish. Still tightly wound, enjoy now with a decant, or cellar. A wine of place. (Treve Ring).
