Anselmo Mendes Muros de Melgaço 2023
€ 25.65
Muros de Melgaço, a complex and exuberant wine, was the first wine and in the last 25 years this wine has accompanied us faithfully in enforcing excellence and elegance. A reference in Portugal that we are proud of and that shows the class and elegance of this enriching variety. The nose is characterized by minerality and citrus notes. In the mouth the wine is persistent and structured, but the sweetness and acidity make it elegant. Light vanilla provides creaminess.
Food-Pairing
Ideal with grilled oily fish dishes such as salmon and seafood, oysters or lobster au gratin, roasted white meat dishes such as salad chicken with almonds. Duck & Thon. Also delicious with asparagus in butter sauce
Grapes: 100% Alvarinho
The Alvarinho, called Albariño in Spain, is a white grape variety. In the region of Vinho Verde, the grape is the most important, but also in Rias Baixas (Galicia) good wines are produced. The grape has a thick skin and a reasonable yield. The alcohol content of the wines is quite high. The wines have fruity aromas where apple usually has the upper hand. The grape likes a soil of slate or granite
The grapes come from vineyards on the south-facing slopes and are grown exclusively in Melgaço. The selected grapes are very ripe and have a high acidity. Carefully selected grapes from the best plots. Hand-picked in small boxes and transported to the winery in a short time. Soft pressing of the destemmed grapes, followed by a light decantation of the must in the cold temperature of 12ºC. Fermentation in French oak barrels with bâtonnage on total lees for 6 months
