Vitor Claro Domino Monte Pratas 2016 White
Golden color. Mineral nose, with a slight reduction. Light quince jelly. The taste is also strikingly mineral, with freshness and a sober character, far removed from any sweet fruit model. The aftertaste is reminiscent of the salt of rock water.
Vitor is one of Portugal’s great young Chefs, and he’s been making his way as a Restauranteur both in Portugal and abroad. After getting the wine bug from Dirk Niepoort, he decided to take matter in his own hands (literally) and craft one of Portugal’s craking new explorations of the Alentejo’s Serra de S.Mamede, and in Castelo Rodrigo with his newest Colmeal Wines. For Vítor Claro, work in the fields must ensure that the grapes are good, that they have grown healthily, that the plant has the nutrients it needs and that it is protected from pests and diseases.
